None of it felt like enough
You don’t need to take on as much as I have (thanks, ADHD!) to feel overwhelmed at the scale of the problems our world faces and to feel like nothing you do will ever be enough.
You can be unsure about your purpose, yet still deeply appreciate the magnitude of what it takes to see sustainable change and wondering if anything you do would be just a drop of water on a huge wildfire.
You can be a changeworker in the field for 15 years and yet feel like you’ve barely made a dent in changing your sector for the better.
Or you might be so burned out by the challenges in your field that you show up every day almost on autopilot.
Like you might be doing right now, I spent years looking for someone who could answer my question:
“How can I truly deepen my impact and witness real change without burning out in the process?”
Well, there is no one way to do this. But systems thinking and paradigm shift strategies can guide us. As can the insight that it will take both inner and outer work to get there, and that neglecting our own health isn't the answer.
Yet, even after many years of searching, I couldn't find a practical support system that prepares and holds changeworkers through the challenges of systems change.
I was nudged by my mentors
In 2023, my mentors gently nudged me to stop looking for answers outside of myself and told me that maybe if I was yearning for something that didn't exist, I was meant to create it. That’s when I decided to put all that I’ve learned over the years out into the world, through Parayma.
Not because I have all the answers for you, but because I learned through countless failures and successes, collected tools and strategies that work, and honestly know there are things I wish I had been better prepared for.
With the right tools, strategies, and support, I founded Parayma to help current and future changework leaders and social entrepreneurs overcome the unique challenges of this complex, rewarding, and sometimes overwhelming work – so things feel a little less heavy, a little less lonely.
Hopefully, you don’t need to learn all the lessons I went through the hard way!
I’m putting my hardest-learned lessons, my academic-based knowledge, practical on-the-ground experience, and deep network of other leaders, in service to your path. So, you too can deepen your impact without ever deepening your exhaustion or giving up before you see the fruits of your labour.
What do I know about systems change and social entrepreneurship?
I co-founded collaboratio helvetica, an initiative that catalyses systems change towards the societal renewal of Switzerland, and built it up from 2017 to 2023
I’m trained on not just one method, but various, such as Theory U, Sociocracy 3.0, Art of Hosting, and Social Labs
I personally ran multiple Social Innovation Labs, and I also studied this powerful strategy in my dissertation at the University of Cambridge, in collaboration with the Presencing Institute
I trained and mentored dozens of people in systems change work, helping set up 50+ new organisations, collaborations and projects across all sectors
I’ve raised multiple millions of CHF/$/€ for this work and helped others raise hundreds of thousands for their social or environmental impact projects
I’ve been recognised for my unique contribution by institutions like Forbes (30 under 30), UNEP, UNESCO and the Swiss government
But most importantly, I’ve been in the field for years – as a systems change leader with skin in the game, not just a consultant or advisor. I experienced first-hand challenges such as the difficulty of funding systems change work, power dynamics with decision-makers, and the pressure of it all…
